ABOUT THE SURF DAWGS

We are a community-based youth lacrosse program in the Newport-Mesa School District dedicated to teaching local kids the sport of lacrosse, while nurturing a competitive team culture that exudes the values of friendship, integrity, loyalty and respect.

We are all-inclusive and seek to combine a welcoming environment with a quality athletic experience for players of all ages and ability levels.

We are uniquely qualified to meet the needs of all of our participants, including the development of our more talented and competitive players who want to be well prepared for the rigors of high school and college lacrosse.

Coach Mix reflects on the Surf Dawg program...

"The goal of our Surf Dawg program remains very close to what it was when I held the first Grab A Stick clinic in the summer of 2004. Our original intent was to create a lacrosse program for the kids in our local community in which they could learn the fundamentals of the sport while developing a sense of belonging - a pack mentality - that would eventually lead to competitive success for the newly formed high school programs at CDM and Newport Harbor. I believe our formula has worked. Since lacrosse became a CIF-recognized sport in 2007, CDM and Newport Harbor have been extremely competitive CIF Southern Section Division I programs. Corona del Mar is consistently ranked among the top programs in Orange County, California and the West.

Through the years, a few of our Surf Dawg players have gone on to play at high schools outside of the Newport-Mesa school district. Many of our more talented players are consistently courted by directors of private travel teams with connections to private high school programs. Fortunately, most of our Surf Dawgs and their families see the value in staying the course and they choose to stick with their childhood friends and compete together for their neighborhood school. We are extremely proud when they attend their local public high school, compete at the highest level that lacrosse in California has to offer, and then go on to play collegiately at schools like Brown, Drexel, Notre Dame, Rutgers and Yale. I think our players' experiences on and off the field and the culture of our community's lacrosse program speak for themselves. It all starts with joining the Surf Dawgs."

THE CDM LACROSSE BOOSTERS

The Corona del Mar Lacrosse Boosters were originally established to support the growth and development of the sport of lacrosse in the Newport-Mesa School District.

At the time, lacrosse was new to Orange County and was only a club sport in a few area high schools and middle schools.

Since 2004, CDM Lacrosse Boosters has provided guidance and support to the youth player development program known as the Surf Dawgs and the CDM high school program.

Please consider making a charitable contribution.
